Financials

Unlike most animal protection organizations, SHAC makes no pretense about operating according to the rules of mainstream society. Accordingly, it has no official status with the federal government, files no tax returns, and is not incorporated within any state. This makes it difficult to ascertain how much money the group has access to, what sorts of things it spends money on, and where those funds come from.

Of course, all of this is in keeping with SHAC’s radical image. It would be foolish to expect a group like SHAC, much of whose activity is patently illegal, to embrace concepts like financial responsibility and public transparency.

SHAC’s glossy printed newsletters, its sophisticated grasp of Internet technology, and its directors’ willingness to frequently travel from state to state, all suggests a substantial money trail. We do know that SHAC claims to pay no salaries, and that it has at least one bank account in the United States. For now, we have to leave the rest up to law enforcement investigators.

We will provide further information about SHAC’s finances as it becomes available to us.

Foundations listed on ActivistCash.com may provide funding to a wider variety of nonprofit groups than those profiled here. This website focuses on activist groups that concentrate on food- and beverage-related issues.
