Robert Redford
Biography
Filmmaker Robert Redford is indicative of a growing pool of American celebrities who, having made their millions in entertainment, now see fit to exert their clout and money in order to restrict our choices. In many ways Redford has become the public face of the NRDC; he now sits on the organization’s Board of Trustees. Redford, who describes himself as an “actor/director/conservationist,” has put his name on many op-ed pieces distributed by the NRDC and adds his name to letters and e-mails to the group’s members asking them to take action or contribute money. He has been increasingly visible in promoting the NRDC’s agenda since George W. Bush became president.
